Pedestrian death slows I-15

Two southbound lanes of Interstate 15 were closed most of the afternoon after a man walking along the side of the highway was run over and killed.

The Nevada Highway Patrol closed two lanes shortly after 2 p.m. Traffic was still moving slowly at 4 p.m.

A man was run over by an 18-wheeler, which could not avoid the pedestrian, troopers said.

“We’re investigating everything up to and including this may have been a deliberate act,” Trooper Kevin Honea said.

Troopers discovered keys in the man’s pants pocket that matched a pickup truck with California license plates parked a short distance away where the man was struck.
