A 50-year-old man wanted in Phoenix for shipping tons of marijuana to the east coast has been arrested in Las Vegas today, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Gregg Ward is wanted by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Ward is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The charges stem from Ward's work as a courier for a multi-ton drug distribution network based in Phoenix.

U.S. marshals learned that Ward left Phoenix and came to Las Vegas when he learned about the warrant for his arrest.

Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team fugitive task force found Ward at a local casino playing slot machines. He was arrested without incident.

Ward has been booked into the North Las Vegas Detention Center where he is awaiting court proceedings to extradite him back to Virginia.
