New chief court executive officer

Clark County’s district judges have chosen Edward Friedland as their new chief court executive officer.

Friedland, the first attorney selected for the position, has been serving as assistant court administrator under the man he is replacing, Chuck Short.

Short, is retiring Aug. 29 after 17 years at the helm of administration.

Friedland joined the courts in 2007 following a stint as executive deputy commissioner for the New York Division of Human rights.

His appointment is to go before the Clark County Commission for approval on July 15.

Short had originally planned to leave at the end of this month, but he agreed to stay on another two months to ensure a smooth transition.
