Metro Police cited 20-year-old Rome Jefferson of Las Vegas who is accused of striking eight pedestrians on a Las Vegas Strip sidewalk near MGM Drive about 3 a.m. Sunday.

Jefferson was cited for unsafe turning and a lane change, driving without a license, failing to report a traffic accident and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.

The eight people were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries after the vehicle Jefferson was driving left the road and onto the sidewalk.

The driver failed to stop after the accident and fled. Police found the abandoned vehicle a short distance from the accident scene, police said.

Jefferson surrendered himself to officers at Metro's Plaza Desk in downtown Las Vegas. Police also cited two passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident for failing to report it. Police did not release their names.
