The 4-year-old boy who was found dead in the family's SUV on Monday has been identified as Jason Rimer, the Clark County coroner's office said today.

The cause of death has not been determined yet, a coroner's spokeswoman said.

Metro Police and the county's Department of Family Services are investigating the death, police said.

Officers arrived at the home, 4935 E. Cleveland Ave., near Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, about 8:30 a.m. Monday after another member of the family found the boy in the SUV, police said.

Metro's Crimes Against Youth and Family Bureau investigated and found that the boy had been left in the vehicle on Sunday after a family outing. Investigators estimate the child spent 17 hours before his body was discovered.

Police will submit the case to the district attorney's office for a final review.
