Police released this surveillance video image of a bank robbery suspect.

At about 1:30 p.m. Friday, the man robbed a bank near Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard. Police said the man approached the counter and displayed a handgun before demanding money from the bank teller.

The man also is suspected of trying to rob a bank at noon Friday in the area of South Las Vegas Boulevard and Silverado Ranch Road.

In the attempted robbery, police said the man was "extremely soft spoken" and the bank teller couldn't hear his demands. The man left the bank with no money and was seen in a white vehicle westbound on Silverado Ranch.

Police described the man as black, about 30 to 40 years old, and 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10. He was 160 to 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, and wearing a T-shirt, blue jeans, a white hat and sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Metro Police robbery section at 828-3591.
