A man suspected of beating a Las Vegas woman to death outside her home has been arrested by Metro Police.

The Criminal Apprehension Team arrested 32-year-old Yiorkis Pineda-Laurencio on Thursday on one count of murder with a deadly weapon and one count of robbery with a deadly weapon.

Police searched Pineda-Laurencio's home before his arrest. He was taken to Clark County Detention Center.

About 10:23 a.m. June 27, police were called to a home in the 4400 block of East Stewart Avenue after a man returned home from a local home supply store and found his wife dead on a walkway leading to the back yard of the house.

The victim was identified as 61-year-old Otilia Soares. An autopsy revealed the cause of death as a beating to the head resulting in a cervical spine fracture.

Soares and her husband had hired a day laborer to help with home repairs.
