Three venues this summer: Free and family-friendly

For those looking for family-friendly activities on the cheap, three Las Vegas Valley locations are hosting free movies throughout the summer.

Starting this week, Rave Motion Pictures at Town Square is starting its Free Family Film Festival. Families can enjoy free G- and PG-rated movies every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. through the end of July.

The festival starts Tuesday with “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.” Other titles this month include “Monsters vs. Aliens,” “Hotel for Dogs” and “Shorts.” Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The District is also hosting an outdoor movie show every Friday at dusk from now until fall on the lawn adjacent to Whole Foods and the carousel. Just bring a chair or blanket and the District will provide the popcorn.

The MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas is showing movies for an older crowd during its Movies al Fresco events this summer. Free movies are hosted at 8 p.m. every Thursday on the events plaza lawn. This month’s titles are “The Blind Side,” “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” and “The Goonies.”

Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, but the village asks no coolers, please.
