From $9 rooms to $99 weddings, deals on display for 9/9/09

Though not as lucky at 7/7/07 or symmetrical as 8/8/08, casinos and restaurants are trying to cash in with deals for 9/9/09.

Discount hotel booking Web site Hotels.com has been running a nine-day sale leading up to 9/09/09, which is Wednesday, for hotel room prices at $99 or less. Hotel prices for Wednesday include bargains like $9 at the Gold Spike, $12 at the Plaza Hotel and $16 at the Sahara. Other pricier deals at popular hotels include rates like $50 at the Luxor, $55 at the Rio, $80 at MGM Grand and $89 at the Palms and Planet Hollywood.

The number 9 is known as one of the most significant in Chinese culture. As the Emperor of China’s number, the number 9 is thought to represent longevity.

In honor of the prosperous day, Caesars Palace’s Beijing Noodle No. 9 is offering a fixed price menu of nine classic Chinese dishes for $19.99.

At the Envy Steakhouse next to the Las Vegas Convention Center, the restaurant is celebrating the day with $9.99 items. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., all salads and sandwiches will be $9.99 or less. During dinner hours, all appetizers, soups and salads will run $9.99 as well.

The number 9 is also significant for weddings in the Chinese culture. Several Vegas wedding chapels are hosting wedding deals for the day.

At Madame Tussauds at the Venetian, the museum is offering a $99 wedding among its wax celebrities to the first nine couples to sign up for a 9 a.m. wedding. The package includes the ceremony, a souvenir photo and certificate, and admission to the museum.

The La Bella Wedding Chapel at the Las Vegas Hilton is selling a $99 wedding special on Wednesday, including ceremony and photo. A witness will be provided if needed, free of charge.

At the Stratosphere, the hotel-casino is hoping to gather 99 couples to marry at 9:09 p.m. on the Indoor Observation Deck. The cost, of course, is $99.09 and includes a ceremony, champagne reception and photo. Rooms for the participating couples will be available for $29.09 a night and upgraded suites at $99.09. And last but not least, the newly married couples get two for one Thrill Ride tickets.
