Editor's note: Vegas is all about glitz and glamour, the velvet ropes and the VIPs. In this space, we couldn't care less about any of that. On The Coin Bucket, we'll cover the deals Vegas has to offer, all in the name of value. No steak special will be spared. Penny slots will be embraced. If you spot a deal, let us know in the comments area below.
Tourists will come and go, but locals will always be here.
So, to express his thanks for locals’ business and recommendations to out-of-towners, Wolfgang Puck has started a “Summer Locals’ Appreciation” special at five of his Las Vegas restaurants.
Locals will receive 25 percent off their check with the presentation of a local ID at CUT, Spago, Postrio, Chinois and Trattoria del Lupo.
For residents who are new to town and haven’t ventured to the DMV for a local ID, here is an incentive. The deal runs until Sept. 30.

Smart move by Puck. Others should take notice. Of course, locals are cherished until the economy recovers and then it's tourists, tourist, tourists.
Bill's has excellent hot dogs from noon to 7PM for $2.00. Also O'Shea's has a Burger King where you can get a Minute Maid OJ for $1. and a hamomelet sand. for $1.39. This is for your survival mode situation. Avoid Mimi's Pizza as it is too expensive for a slice and low on the quality totem pole. It's next door to Burger King.
Ellis Island had the best deal on a full meal ... a pot roast with mashed p. and peas and carrotts and bread served up on a 14" plate ... huge portions ... $5.99 for the entire meal if you can come up with that much cash. The service was somewhat slow but polite and only if the woman in the booth next to me had shut up on her cell phone things would really have been nice. She was alone so I guess her cell phone was her best friend. This meal will carry you for a full day. Ellis Island seems to offer a lot of nice deals to locals. I got a nice coffee mug there. I had been searching for one for a long time that was not too heavy to pick up and had a white interior so I can easily see my coffee. A man named Ed had won it and he asked me if I would like to have it. Now each morning I enjoy my coffee quite a lot and also all the logos of the casion on the outside ... Ellis Island Casino and Brewery. They are celebrating their 40th Anniversary so I really came out ahead with all this. I'll be there Sunday and again on Tuesday for one of those meals. Eat all of it and you're covered for the entire day with some surplus for blackjack and .50 slots. As to Mr. Puck's offer of 25% off I will say thanks, but really no thanks because you are still going to have some real cash on hand to dine at one of his places, although he'll deny this. Good hardy food is the way to go for purposes of preservation. One major meal a day is plenty. I have some more tips which I plan to disclose soon so we locals can enjoy our cash savings due to these discounts before the economy returns to normal and we become once again .... FORGOTTEN.
definate too expensive for us locals with and without the 25% discount.
