Breakfast deal at Renata’s

Vegas is all about glitz and glamour, the velvet ropes and the VIPs. In this space, we couldn’t care less about any of that. You won’t find any discussion of wine pairings, chutney, foie gras, mango salsas, or which superstar DJ was up in the club where Britney was hanging out. There are guys with exclamation points or British accents for that kind of stuff.

Here, we’ll cover the lower rungs of Vegas’ social ladder, all in the name of value. No steak special will be spared. Cheap libations will be celebrated. Penny slots will be embraced. Vegas’ loss leaders will be your gain.

One of the best breakfast deals in town is at Renata’s Casino, hidden in the nook of an L-shaped strip mall, that is slowly turning into a ghost town, east of Green Valley Parkway at 4451 E. Sunset Road.

Two eggs, any style. Included in the $2.99 price are bacon or sausage, a heap of diced potatoes and two slices of toast. Nancy serves it up in a blink.

Your stomach’s really growling? Advance to the $4.99 chicken fried steak platter. The breaded steak, smothered in white gravy, covers more than half of the large plate and lies on a mound of hash browns. Get them crispy. Two eggs (can’t go wrong with scrambled) and two slices of toast accompany the feast.

Plasma screens around the bar catch you up on the latest sports or world news, and a quick wager can be had a dozen steps away at the sports book.

Best of all, the plates are served 24 hours a day. The menu has a wide variety of appetizers, salads, $5.99 sandwiches and other meals.

But hurry, because employees were notified Jan. 15 that the place that opened in 1989 is shutting down, for a premium renovation, on Feb. 4, the day after the Super Bowl.

It is scheduled to reopen in June. By then, more than a few stomachs figure to be growling.
