If Jack Roush were an animal, he would probably be an elephant. Elephants have great memories, and when it comes to Kurt Busch, Roush hasn’t forgotten a thing.
Last week, USA Today published a story crediting veteran crew chief Jimmy Fennig with being the architect responsible for Matt Kenseth’s rebound. Kenseth, who sits third in the points standings, broke his 76-race winless streak at Texas Motor Speedway last week. And it was a humorous quote from Roush about Fennig’s abilities that caught my eye.
Now, we all know that Roush can be exceedingly frank and can also be quite funny in his moments of complete honesty. But his comment in the USA Today story was the kind of quote newspaper reporters live for.
While praising Fennig in the story, Roush said: “Jimmy is a consummate stock-car racer. Heck, he even won a championship with Kurt Busch. He can do anything.”
Ouch!
I almost fell out of my chair when I read that. Besides being funny, it also demonstrates that Roush has a lot of memories, some obviously not so pleasant, of his dealings with his former driver. I guess that when it comes to Roush’s sense of humor, Kurt Busch is the gift that keeps on giving.

Jack Roush has proven on more than one occasion to be a spoiled crybaby. What's the point of bashing Kurt Busch in that situation? Sour grapes from a whiner. Kurt Busch has matured and moved on. Jack should be a bigger man and try to do the same.
