What would Sarah Palin drive?

Seeing John McCain speak at the pre-race ceremonies last week made me think about what make of vehicle each presidential candidate would drive if they were NASCAR athletes.

John McCain would definitely drive the Dodge Charger. Anyone who calls himself a maverick would drive a Charger.

Joe Biden would be behind the wheel of a Ford Fusion. In my sometimes highly frustrating experiences with Ford products, I’ve found that the car can have one million things wrong with it, but it will still run. That’s a lot like Senator Biden. He can make a million gaffes, but somehow he manages to survive and keeps on running.

I’ll pick Barack Obama to drive the Toyota Camry. Actually, I think he might be more suited to drive the Toyota Prius or Volkswagon Beetle, but those models aren’t represented in NASCAR. Since the Camry is a practical, maybe even a cerebral choice for consumers (I could see a college professor driving one), I’ll have to pick it as the vehicle that fits him the best.

And finally, what would Sarah Palin drive? A snowmobile? Well, that vehicle is not an option, so I’ll have to go with a Chevrolet. Chevy is definitely the vehicle of a hockey mom. Do you think NASCAR would allow her to hang a gun rack in the back window of her Impala?
