Betting on the beer wars

The on-track battles between Budweiser and Miller Lite have been a source of bragging rights for the respective drivers and breweries ever since they began sponsoring cars in NASCAR's premier series.

Now, NASCAR fans can get in on the action. The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas has a new prop bet that allows fans to wager on how the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge, driven by Las Vegas native Kurt Busch, will fare this season against the No. 9 Budweiser Dodge, driven by Kasey Kahne.

The bet is based on the cars' final position in the 2008 points standings. The Miller Lite car is an 8.5-position favorite over the Bud car.

Last year, the Miller Lite car finished nine spots ahead of the Bud car, a Chevrolet driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr., in the final points standings.

The Palms also is offering weekly head-to-head wagering on the two cars.
