Give Jeff Burton his due

So far this season the only thing getting more attention than the Hendrick, Gibbs and Roush teams has been Hillary Clinton’s sniper-fire fantasy. Meanwhile, Jeff Burton continues to lead the points standings with a lot less fanfare. Why is this the case?

Jeff doesn’t have Tony Stewart’s unshaven mug and in-your-face demeanor. He doesn’t have Kyle Busch’s bad-boy image and take-no-prisoners driving style. And he doesn’t have Carl Edward’s back flip. When Jeff Burton speaks he’s steady, even, intelligent and thoughtful. In short, he’s an adult. Maybe his style doesn’t make for a provocative television interview, but whenever he speaks, I find him to be refreshing.

  1. Hey, lets do a little astrology thing here! Stewart and Busch are both Taurus. Taurus is the Bull, not the greatest at communicating. Linda Goodman says, 'You'd better not come very close, I generally hit everything I can see when I get excited.' Now who does that remind you of ..... people, cars, anything, you get it, right?

Jeff, the oldest of the three mentioned drivers, is a Leo. Leo is the Lion. The quote on Leo is (slightly paraphrased by me), 'He looks good-natured; still, he has very long claws and a great many teeth, so he ought to be treated with respect.'

I agree that Jeff is a gentleman, but the message is pretty clear also, don't mess with him!

  2. You're right. Remember Jeff's comments about Michael McDowell after Martinsville?
